An antipodean guitar. I like the slotted headstock and I really like this wood combination, soundwise. I'm not sure what the neck wood is; I salvaged it from a cabinet that had been left on the verge waiting for the hard rubbish collector. When I took a nosy at the cabinet I realised that it was full of quartersawn 1-inch thick boards. So I recruited my mate Murray to help me carry it home. The wood is quite hard, quite dense (on the heavy side for a guitar neck), fine grained and as yet still unidentified, despite my asking around. It's really nice to think that instead of rotting away in the landfill, this wood will live on in a guitar or three.
