This guitar has flown back home to New Zealand as a koha (gift). When I've worked with wenge as a back and sides wood in the past I've tried to emphasise its density in contrast to the lighter top wood. This gives a powerful, punchy tone. By contrast, I worked the back and sides thinner on this one, using lighter bracing, a lighter neck, and a slightly denser piece of wood for the top. The sound is more complex as a result, with freer overtones.
